Bob Sutter was recently recognized for his contributions to research and extension programs at North Carolina State University. The Order of the Loose Shelled Kernel and The Society of the Sound Split are imaginary yet mystical organizations. But along with this humor on the plaques comes sincere gratitude to Bob and the North Carolina Peanut Growers Association for sustained support of research and extension activities. Bob was given a cooler, pressure washer, turbo nozzle, maturity charts, bucket, shovel, and pitchfork with hopes that in retirement he will join peanut agents across the state as they help growers determine peanut maturity.
